Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the date of the accident and the state where the accident occurred, agencies generally try to submit police crash reports to us within 7 to 10 business days from the date of the accident. However, there are exceptions. If it has been more than 10 business days from the date of the accident, please contact us so we can do a more detailed search for your police crash report.
Police crash reports are available for download in PDF format at the time of purchase. A purchase receipt will also be sent to your email address with a link to download the police crash report. Please allow at least 15 minutes for the purchase receipt to arrive in your email. If it has been longer than 15 minutes, please check your junk folder to see if it has been misplaced. If for any reason you are unable to locate this email, please contact us and we will be happy to resend your purchase email where you can access your document.
No. You are not required to have an account with BuyCrash.com to search for and purchase a police crash report.
If you've tried and are still unable to locate your report, it may be a result of one of the following:
  1. The report has not yet been completed by the law enforcement agency and submitted to the state for dissemination. If you choose, we can continue to monitor the receipt of possible matches for your report and notify you as soon as it is available. There is no charge for this service and you are not obligated to purchase the report once it has been located.
  2. The information you are using for your search may be inconsistent with the information provided by the local agency. Please contact us and provide us with your information. We will try to locate your report and notify you promptly. There is no charge for this service.
Once you have purchased and downloaded your report or placed a report order, it cannot be canceled.
Contact the law enforcement agency that investigated the accident. Not sure which agency to call? If the accident occurred within a city or town, call the local police department. If the accident occurred outside of a town or city, call either the Sheriff's Department or State Highway Patrol.
State law determines who has access to police crash reports. Please consult with your local authority.
Once you have added to the cart all of the reports you want to purchase, click "Checkout" to purchase them. If you are with a company that needs to frequently purchase reports, you can create an account.
An involved party connected to the accident refers to an individual who was involved in the accident. This includes those who were in the accident as a witness, property owner, driver, or passenger.
No. Currently, BuyCrash.com only offers official police crash reports. To obtain a copy of a citation, contact the investigating agency.
You are welcome to contact the investigating agency to see if they offer police crash reports from their local office.

Sometimes email can be blocked or filtered into the bulk, spam or junk folder especially now that email filters are focusing more strongly on “grey mail” or commercial mail. As a result of these changes you may be unable to read certain email communications even if you have signed up to be notified about your report availability.
